Is anybody doing the Lochore sprint tri? entrycentral.com/index.php?raceID=100039I have still to use my wetsuit, but might sign up to force myself into the water. Ill try to make this open water swim next week in Lochore. I went canyoning with Naelimits on the weekend...... I now know what you mean with the cold water effect Alec.

Dave, There was four of us at Lochore last night. It's a hoot. I would highly recommend getting some o/w training in before the race though, as I found it a LOT different to pool swimming.
I'm still swithering about signing up for the Lochore Sprint as, although I could make the race, I can't make anymore Wednesday evenings at Lochore between now and then.

I'm going cycling on Saturday morning. Planning to do 2 laps of my Ironman circuit. Each circuit is approx 40 miles and starts / finishes in Pitcairngreen. Looking to leave Pitcairgreen at about 09:45 if anybody fancies joining me for either a lap or both. Pace will be a comfortable, but steady, 17 - 18 mph.
If you fancy it then leave me a note on the Forum.
Cheers, Alec.

Gary.
If I'm a bit late, possibly 5 - 10 min max, please wait for me so we can go round together.
Nick is going to join us.
Cheers, Alec.

I wont make it tomorrow, heading through to Glasgow to sort out wedding stuff then when I return to Dundee I will be fitting the bike out before I take the plunge on the new bike. Hopefully if I spend a bit of time setting it up correctly I will remove the back pain I get from cycling long distance or hard sessions. Also means that I can then have a training bike and a race bike . Anyone interested on a Sunday cycle or cycle/run?

I'm not saying I had a complete disaster last wed at Lochore but...................... As steve said earlier in this thread it is totally different to the pool. Add to that the wet suit alec had kindly lent me was on the baggy side, and it lead me to having a learning session instead of a work out. 1) Buy your own wetsuit. Steve again with good advice sent me to Falkirk. Abit out of the way but a good shop with a well inform gent giving good tips and didn't make me to nervous when i was stripped down to my cycle shorts.
2) Swim o/w more. I will be endevouring to be at lochore most weeks in july. I have family in Arbroath and the beach there will also be a trainging groud. (portobello sprint is salt water!)
3) Wear a swim cap for all swim sessions. I never wear a swim cap. When I put one on I can never get my ears in the right place or my goggles don't sit right. I must practise this as with all events a cap will be compulsoury.
Thanks Alec I hope to go to loch or again on the 9th July. If your going I'd be greatful for a lift again.

Hi Dave.
Missed your message the other night.
I've only got about a 1.5 hour window to go cycling on Saturday morning. I think I'll stay local and try and set up my tri bars, which will mean a lot of stop and starts. If you want to join me put a note on the forum. Otherwise I'll catch up with you next week.
Cheers, Alec.

Ill leave you too it. I am using July as a "get as many miles as you can" month. My aim is 500 cycling and 55 running miles which will be tough considering work commitments and wedding plans. Ill still try and make the open water swim sessions though, I really enjoyed that this week.
Ill let you fiddle with your handle bars, I may just get in the way. Ill catch you next weekend if I am around Dundee area.
Not sure where I will go tomorrow. Might tie in with the Dundee clubs leaving from Camperdown at 09:30. They usually do a 50 mile route. I do want to find a decent 10 mile route (5 out and 5 back) for my short time trials so might have a cycle around looking for one of those that are reasonably local.
