I was reading about IM Lanzarote yesterday and the article basically said, this is the toughest IM going. To have gone out there the day before, alone, with no acclimatization is an amazing feat Big Man. You are truly inspiring. Chapeau.
What next? Stirling Sprint?
Cheers Greig

I'm back. A weekend to remember to say the least. I'll post a full report over the weekend. To cut a long story short here is a quick summary.
SWIM / T1 - good swim, nice a steady, went to plan (target was to finish swim and get through T1 and out on the bike within 1.5 hours);
BIKE / T2 - even pace steady power ride, again everything went to plan (target was to complete bike section and get through T2 within 7 hours, a total time 8.5 hours);
RUN - the aim was to try and run a 4.5 hour marathon which would get me home in 13 hours. What started well, I managed to run the first 25km, slowly started to come apart as the intense heat (high 80's) started to take its toll. Lap 2 saw me walk / run, but lap 3 saw me walk the whole lap except for the last 200m to the finish.
Without doubt the toughest event I have ever done. Apart from a few patches of sunburn and general tiredness I've come through it pretty well. A few weeks rest and I'll be out on the road again.
Full report to follow. Thanks for all your support - it means a lot. Catch up soon.
Onwards and ironwards. Cheers, Alec.

Alec, Did you follow a training plan for the ironman. If you did can you post a link? If I am going to attempt this IM thing then I better get organised.
Cheers Andy
