16 weeks to go and counting. So far the training is progressing to plan, with the distances and intensity increasing weekly.
On Friday night I'm planning to go to the pool at 9pm for an hour of distance swimming. Last week I had a lane (and almost the whole pool) to myself.
On Saturday I'm heading out on the bike for a 4 hour ride. Leaving Perth at 09:30 from the Tractor Garage at West Huntingtower, heading out towards Methven - Glenalmond - Amulree - Dunkeld - Caputh - Murthly - Bankfoot - Pitcairngreen.
Turn up if you fancy joining me for either session. The more the merrier.
Onwards and Ironwards. Cheers,
Alec.

12 weeks to go. So far so good. Not too many aches and pains to report ("touch wood" this remains the case). Plenty of mojo in the tank to keep me focussed.
I'm planning the following sessions this week. If you fancy joining me then let me know via this thread.
THURSDAY - 90 minute swim session at the 50m pool in Stirling, leaving Perth at 6:15pm from the Cherrybank Inn car park.
FRIDAY - 90 minute run from my house at 7:15pm
SATURDAY:- 3 hour cycle followed by a 30 minute run leaving my house at 9:30am.
SUNDAY:- I'm going through to Dundee to take part in the Dundee Wheelers CC Reliability Trial. It starts at 10:00 from the Millennium Hall in Birkhill (near Muirhead). It costs £5 to enter, includes refreshments at the end. I'm doing the 70 mile route. There is also a 50 mile and 30 mile circuit as well. I'll be leaving Perth at 8:30am.

Perth - Blairgowrie - Bridge of Caley - Pitlochry - Tummel Bridge - Aberfeldy - Amulree - Pitcairngreen - Perth.
Approx 90 - 100 miles, 5 serious climbs, and some stunning scenery. So far 5 have signed up.
Come along and join in for either some or all of the route. The more the merrier.
Cheers,
Alec.

Alec - Wow 2 weeks to go. Time seems to have flown since you said those scary Lanzarote Ironman words and now it's so close You inspire us all and we look forward to hearing all about your adventure in a few weeks time. You always go out of your way and take time to wish us well Alec and attend the short events to cheers us on - that is a BIG BIG boost to us novices. While we can't repay the compliment for Lanzarote we are behind you 100% and will be cheering you on in good wishes on 22 May - you'll probably pick up our positive vibes around 100k of the bike ;D when you need that extra boost just picture us all running fast behind you (we'll need to be very very fast!) pushing you on, yelling support. Hope to see you before you leave but if not then HAVE A FANTASTIC RACE ........ you hoping to qualify for Hawaii BTW
