I'm planning on making my return to the road this weekend after a 5 month lay off. Aiming to go out at 10:00 on Saturday morning for 30 miles. It will be a steady 'rehab' pace of no more than 15 - 16mph. If you want to join me then meet me behind the tractor garage at West Huntingtower at 10:15. Shout if you need directions.
On Sunday I'm going to test my arm with a swim at the 50m pool in Stirling followed by another cycle at 10:00. Does anybody want to join me for the swim? I'll be leaving Perth about 06:30. For the cycle I'll be leaving from the meeting point at the South Inch for another 25 - 30 mile route.
Sounds like a 'make or break' type of weekend, but you've got to start somewhere.
Cheers, Alec. ;D

My Strava app told me it was nearer 40 miles than 25. I was really struggling on the hills but was remarkably fresh from Auchterarder to Dunning. I have a skint knee and bruised hip from my fall. Alec looked like he had never been away. Thanks for a great day. Ian

Glad to hear you don't seem to have been too badly beaten up by your fall on Saturday Ian. Given that this was my first ride since a similar fall on the ice a month before, I was worried you might have been more badly hurt. And yes, I thought it was more like 40 miles too! Thanks to Alec and Gary for keeping the pace fairly civilised. Clearly the 5 month layoff hasn't dented your stamina too much. A couple of weeks holiday for me now, so i'll have to start from scratch when I get back :-(

Heading out tomorrow (Sunday) to cycle round the Sma'Glen. It will be approx 55 miles (honest) at an easy steady pace. Meet behind the tractor garage at West Huntingtower at 09:30. Weather looks half decent.
Cheers, Alec.
Ben - probably going to be too far for a MTB. Catch up next week for a shorter route.

I would really like to join in but 55 miles is too much for me. Can you say in more detail what your route will be and I might be able to tag on at Glenalmond junction or somewhere else.
Thanks, Cam

This weekends installment from the pain locker is as follows:
SATURDAY - Planning to join the "Saturday Morning Crew" for a 50 mile trip down to Dundee and back. Head to Dundee via Fife and back to Perth via the Carse of Gowrie. Meeting at Tesco (next to the cash machine) on the Edinburgh Road at 09:00. Likely to be a fast and furious ride, but no pain no gain.
SUNDAY - Subject to my son's football, I'll be leaving the South Inch meeting point at 10:00 for a hilly ride over Glenfarg and Glen Tarkie. If my son's football starts early then I won't be going out.
If the weather closes in then use your own judgement on whether its safe to cycle or not.
Are you IN or OUT?
Cheers, Alec.
